Test Your Civics Literacy

The Institute for Intercollegiate Studies has just published the test and and the results at 50 US colleges. Test your own "civics literacy" here with the same test.

My score: 58/60 (96.67%).

The average scores for seniors at 50 colleges are appallingly bad. Harvard seniors did the "best" with a D+ (just under 70%). In last place of the colleges studied are seniors at St. Thomas Univ. (FL) with just 32.5% correct. Since the test is multiple choice with just 5 choices per question, this is only slightly better than the results from random guessing. [We'll leave the calculation of that number as an exercise for the reader.]

It's worse than that, though. It takes very little mental effort to eliminate two or even three of the choices on most of these questions. So how ignorant, stupid and/or lazy do you have to be to score 30% on this?

Sure glad we didn't waste a lot of money sending Tycho to Harvard...
